From May 15 to 17, 2025, our annual Industry Meetup Literature will once again take place at the Refugio in Neukölln (Lenaustraße 3-4, 12047 Berlin-Neukölln), this time dedicated to the overarching theme “My fear and me: finding security in insecure times”. As always, a very special program highlight will be our Industry Meetup Barcamp, which will take place all day on Saturday, 17 May 2025.
Barcamps are a very special exchange and learning format, the content of which you can help determine. The barcamp program is drawn up together with all participants on the morning of the event. Anyone can announce presentations, discussions or workshops in the session planning. Do you have a specific question that has been on your mind for a long time? At the Barcamp you may find others who are asking the same question or have already come closer to an answer. Are you looking for fellow campaigners for a project? Would you like to share certain experiences and insights with others? The Barcamp provides a framework for finding like-minded people and exchanging ideas with them.
The overwhelming success of the 2023 and 2024 industry meetup barcamps has shown all participants and us how great the need for exchange, collaboration and cohesion is in the literary scene. That is why we are once again dedicating the entire Saturday of this year’s Industry Meetup to the popular open event format:
Saturday, May 17th, 2025, 9:30 a.m. – 5:45 p.m. | Industry Meetup Barcamp
Location: Refugio Berlin (Lenaustraße 3-4, 12047 Berlin)
There are no hierarchies, everyone meets at eye level and is both a participant and a contributor. The active involvement of everyone present results in an intensive exchange of knowledge, new ideas are generated, joint projects are initiated and contacts are made. And it’s fun too. Newcomers to the literary profession are also very welcome. You decide for yourself whether you want to take part in the Barcamp as a listener, offer a topic yourself or perhaps “adopt” a topic from the wish list. Last year, for example, the individual sessions dealt with the classism of the literary industry, innovative reading formats, autofiction, founding a publishing house, finding a publisher and more.
You’ve never taken part in an event format like this before? Don’t worry, there will be a newbie session with Dr. Valeska Henze on Saturday morning from 9:30 to 10:15 a.m., where you will learn everything you need to know before the actual barcamp from 10:15 a.m. to 5:45 p.m. gets down to business.
The Barcamp itself will be bilingual (German/English) and will be moderated by Katy Derbyshire and Lara Sielmann. During the Barcamp, illustrator Anne Lehmann will record the various sessions in her graphic recordings.
Drinks and lunch for the Barcamp participants as well as professional childcare will of course also be provided.
We look forward to exchanging ideas with you!
The complete program and the possibility to register for the Barcamp and the other workshops can be found on our industry meetup page.
