What career experience do you have in your advising field?
As a lawyer specialized in copyright and media law, I’ve been looking after clients in the arts and culture scene for many years in the areas of corporate, contract, copyright and media law, as well as public procurement and the Künstlersozialkasse (artists’ social insurance). In addition to my career as a lawyer, I studied Dramaturgy at the Ernst Busch Academy of Dramatic Arts, and also trained as a coach. This makes it easier for me to pinpoint the needs of my clients from the arts and culture scene.
What are some of your professional achievements?
Since January 2021 I’ve been on the advisory board of the Künstlersozialkasse in the performing arts division. As an adviser for the Systemcheck research project, I work alongside a team, identifying areas that can be optimized, and developing corresponding recommendations for measures that would improve social security for solo self-employed people and hybrid workers in the performing arts. I’m also a member of the German Dance Association’s Ethics Committee. This is part and parcel of my anti-discrimination work, which began in 2017, when, together with Julia Wissert, Director of Schauspiel Dortmund, I developed the Anti-Discrimination Clause. In addition, in 2020 Kanzlei Laaser worked together with LaProf Hessen, nrw landesbuero tanz, and Laft BW to develop a database for model contracts. Since then, 22 organizations have joined us, including the BFDK (Federal Association for the Independent Performing Arts) and ASSITEJ e.V. The database makes model contracts available to arts and culture workers, and also makes legal information more accessible, through manuals and educational videos.
