In the spotlight: The tak Theater Aufbau Kreuzberg

One the weekend of June 18 to 20, the Annual Gathering of the Literary Industry will be streamed live from the tak Theater Aufbau Kreuzberg. Many certainly already know the tak, having attended numerous events there before the pandemic. The independent theatre has been in existence in the Aufbauhaus at the Moritzplatz since 2012. The tak focuses on themes like freedom and equality. Our programme with the title “Vor|care|ungen – self-employment with a future” fits in well here, after all, we discuss (structural) challenges of the independent literary scene. We are happy to have the tak as a partner! Although we can welcome only our speakers there this year, we would like to take this opportunity to interview the tak-Team:

Please introduce yourselves: What does the tak Theater Aufbau Kreuzberg do and what makes you unique?

Since 2018, the tak Theater Aufbau Kreuzberg has been working under collective artistic leadership in an interdisciplinary, transnationally way, acting between local neighbourhoods and continents. It considers itself an independent theatre in Berlin that is open both for Berlin residents as well as international artists and collectives.

What kind of events do you want to provide a space for?

As tak Theater Aufbau Kreuzberg, we are constantly looking for fellow campaigners of all stripes who are interested in experimental spaces and alliances between art, concerns and solidarity and who want to get involved.

How does your everyday routine look like during the pandemic?

We deal with the challenges and opportunities of the digital space almost every day. Even though the pandemic limits opportunities for interpersonal contact, we are glad that we can continue our work despite these restrictions.

What are your plans for this year? What are you most looking forward to?

We look forward to opening our doors for the audience again, to new, interesting experiments and to working live (and with love) with our colleagues. Our next collective Projects are geRECHT, a walkable video installation in the theatre, the takADEMIE: Togetherness, a conference and lab series about biodiversity and togetherness of all species, Ando Kher, a collaboration with the Roma Aether Klube theatre and tiktak, a yearlong series of collaborations with artists, activists and theatre makers. Last but not least: We are happy to share our audio-visual walk the “Unmögliche Vertreibung des Herrn B.” (“the outrageous expulsion of Mister B.”): https://tak-berlin.de/Herr_B_2021 [vc_column][vc_video link=”https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GbJhzMO5FWo” el_width=”80″]
