Summary: Consultation Day for Work Stipends for Literature in Languages other than German

We were very happy to welcome so many authors to yesterday’s information day for “Working Stipends for Literature in Languages other than German for 2020,”; everyone was full of energy. There were seven consultants, each ready to advise possible applicants for the stipends in their native languages. The authors first gathered together in the front room for a general info session, where the consultants introduced themselves, a brief overview was given and the audience could ask questions openly. Then the consultants went to their stations and the authors who had previously made appointments visited them in 30-minute blocks to ask any questions they had about the stipends in their native languages. The stipends have been given to six non-German writers living in Berlin for the past two years, and intend to support international writers living in Berlin. To apply for the stipends, one must submit by the 18th of June proof of residency in Berlin, along with a sample of ones writing, around 20 standard pages in length, together with an exposé and an artistic cv. Further information is available in Polish, English, Russian, Arabic, French, Spanish and German on the website of the Berlin Senate (https://www.berlin.de/sen/kultur/foerderung/foerderprogramme/literatur/artikel.621412.php).
