The schreiben&leben team wishes happy holidays!

The year 2020, which was eventful in many respects, is drawing to a close. But before we send you off with warm wishes, we would like to take a brief look back at the many highlights of our project!

Despite the Corona crisis and the measures that were subsequently adopted, we were able to continue our regular consultations digitally and via telephone. Especially in these times, when many aspects of the independent literary scene had to be paused or restricted, we wanted to uphold our offer of informative consultations and support creators in Berlin. Next year we will continue our programme in this tried and tested format until further notice. You can look forward to many more helpful and diverse counselling days!

The year also presented a number of new questions and uncertainties. Many freelancers had to adjust to a change in the way they work and cope with a loss of income. This was the context for our newly introduced programme of Corona consultations and podcasts, which were specifically aimed at dealing with issues related to the crisis. The talks covered e.g. funding and financial bridging options, social media and digital tools as well as various legal topics.

In June, the fourth Annual Gathering of the Literature Industry took place. Under the title “Literature viral: What’s next after Corona?”, various concepts and challenges were highlighted in workshops, lectures, discussions and Q&As. The central subject matter of the meeting was also reflected in its execution: All events were held in the digital sphere and streamed from tak Theater Aufbau Kreuzberg. If you missed a particular lecture and maybe want to learn about digital cultural platforms, sensible language or literary cooperative models, you can drop by our Youtube channel, where the contributions of the gathering are currently uploaded at weekly intervals.

The absence of live literary events also had an impact on the format of the Berlin Literature Calendar. As a result, its printing had to be discontinued twice. In order to keep all those interested in literature up to date, we have been sending out a newsletter since May that bundles the dates of all Berlin literature events and provides the corresponding stream links, fundraising and all other information!

We look forward to meeting you again next year and wish you happy and peaceful holidays!
